A Day At Esplanade (Celebrating SG50! )

"Yes!" I exclaimed in delight after hearing the news. I had just came back from my English tuition and soon after, my father told me that we were to going to Esplanade to celebrate SG50 and to learn about the different ways to celebrate Singapore's 50th National Birthday.

When we reached the location, the place was bustling with people. Tourists, citizens, babies, elderlies, and many other people were there. It was very crowded and my family and I had to jostle our way through the big crowd. We did many things at Esplanade, however, before we started our activities, we had a scrumptious lunch at Carl's Junior. It was superb. The thick, juicy and chewy mushroom burger I had with some crunchy French Fries was out of this world.

Then, we went to walk around the Marine Parade and saw many tour boats touring the Singapore River. I requested my father to allow our family members to go onto the boat and take a look around the beautiful Singapore. Even though the price was high, however, my parents thought that it was a rare opportunity to be able to sit on the boat and enjoy the scenery. We toured from the Esplanade the Singapore River to Clarke Quay, then to Boat Quay. On the way, we passed by a few significant bridges such as the Read Bridge, Elgin Bridge and the Coleman Bridge. I will post some pictures of them below.

Next, we went to Esplanade Outdoor Theatre to watch a beautiful performance by the ITE Show Choir. Their voices were awesome. I like the way they coordinated so well to put up a great performance. Halfway through, we saw many people gathering at the side of the podium. Out of curiosity, we went to ask the security guard what was happening. He told us in a friendly manner that there would be a fireworks display around 8.30p.m.

As we had longed to watch a fireworks display, we found a very good spot and sat on the grass waited patiently for it to occur. True enough, the fireworks were amazing. My father started to tell us about his story as a teenager working as a fireworks coordinator. He also told me about the different types of fireworks and the danger of the job.

The next performance was my favourite. It was performed by the awesome Asian Contemporary Ensemble (ACE). It was spectacular. The ensemble comprises the traditional Chinese, Indian and Malay instruments, which symbolises our multi-racial country. I love the enthusiasm they had for music and learnt from them that we should be passionate and happy in everything we do.

On this trip to Esplanade, I have learnt many things about SG50. I hope to be able to go to Esplanade again to attend the lovely performances and tour around Singapore on the boat again.

SA2 Exams are around the corner

"Mum,I'm done!"I shouted at the top of my lungs. I had just completed an English SA2 trial paper from Tao Nan Primary School.Exam is around the corner and I had get ready for my first two papers,English and Chinese composition.

Then,I took a ten-minutes break before doing another trial paper. While taking my break,I uploaded some beautiful pictures to set them as my wallpaper.

"Jay Den,it's time for you to do your work!"my mother shouted from my bedroom. She was browsing through the computer, searching for some books for my sister, May Way,and I to read.

"Stay here and do your work,if not,you will get it from me.Do not go to the kitchen,I just mopped the floor.Going to pick your Mei Mei now."my mother warned me.I had no choice but to follow her instructions

"Yes!I finally finished my trial paper,"I whispered to myself softly.Immediately,I kept my pencil case and switched on the television.

Then,I heard the footsteps of two people. But I didn't care.

Suddenly,my mother's eyes pierced through the open window of my house. When she entered the house, she reprimanded me for my bad deed.

Once bitten, twice shy,I promised her never to turn on the television without her permission

Wedding Dinner

Last night, I attended a wedding of my mother's cousin, Shu Qin and Lai Teck. The name of the restaurant is called "Tung Lok Seafood Restaurant" located at Jurong. The dinner will only be served after everyone arrived. We will have to wait for the wedding march ceremony to finish too. There were wide varieties of food and drinks prepared for all of us. My stomach was rumbling as I was very hungry.

When I ate the steamed fish, I accidentally swallowed its bone and it stucked in my throat. I was in great pain and cried for my mother. My cousin Jowell and his mother quickly asked me to eat some rice so that it will wash the bone down my throat. I did exactly that and it finally worked. I felt so relieved after that. My father brought me to the toilet to wash my face. We then went to 7-11 to buy a packet of sweet which I shared with May Way, Jowell and Zhong Han.

I had learnt a painful lesson. I should not talk while eating and must be careful when eating food with bones.

Dizi

Last Saturday, I went to my grandmother's house with my family. I was so disappointed when Jowell did not turn up. Luckily Zhong Han was there, if not nobody can play with me. I brought my dizi along. I played 金蛇狂舞, Mr Bean, Happy Birthday, Star Wars, Barney and 塔塔尔. Everyone gave me a big hand. I felt like I was on stage and my chest puffed with prides. Then, I went to play water with Zhong Han and May Way. Guess what we did? We wiped the windows? Isn't that crazy? But when my family and I were on our way to JJ's house, my father asked me not to play with water next time. He said "It is dangerous to play with water at the balcony as you may slip and fall." I hope Jowell will visit my grandmother's house next week so that we can play Beyblades to our heart's content.

House Renovation

Last Saturday, I went to eat at KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) with Jowell's family. It was very scrumptious and appetizing. But the burger was extremely spicy.

After we finished, we went to NTU. The luckiest thing was that we do not need to do any work in class. Instead, we watched the movie "Finding Nemo". It was an entertaining movie. I had watched the movie many times and now I am looking forward to watch "Cars 2".

The next morning, I discovered that my house was filled with new furniture! We were renovating our house. My father told me not to step, draw and paste stickers on the dinning table. My father spent $1800 including transportation on buying the furniture and $1300 for giving our house a fresh coat of paint. My father bought me a study desk lamp too. My eyes feel very comfortable when reading under the lamp. I did many other things under this comfortable lamp too. This is the second time we had renovated our house.

NTU CO

Last Sunday, we attended Chinese Orchestra Concert at Singapore Conference Hall (SCH). Before that, we had dinner at McDonald. By the time we reached that, I was as hungry as a wolf. The McDonald is at Ang Mo Kio. There was an outdoor playground too. I ate fish burger and french fries with curry while my father ate McSpicy chicken burger. It was yummy and we spent half an hour at the restaurant. After that, we went to Funan Centre to buy a new battery for my Besta dictionary. We finally found the Besta shop after searching around the centre. My father bought the battery for $32! Finally, we could go to SCH to meet his two friends. It was a sold out concert by NTUCO and the hall was packed with audiences. Everyone was engrossed once the concert started. The NTUCO played many lovely music. Jonathan Tan played the Dizi and Wei Long played the Guzheng. After the last piece of music was played, everyone shouted "Encore! Encore! Encore! Encore!". They played another two more pieces and everybody gave a round of applause.

On Tuesday, my father told me that I can not lie and had to admit my mistakes. I had to care about my work and have to check it every time.

Yesterday, Ethan and I fought in a moment of anger. He hit my hand and in return, I kicked his leg. In the end, he had a bruise on his leg. My mother scolded me after I confessed to her. Once bitten, twice shy, I would not fight again. I apologised to him and asked for forgiveness.

Today, during the recess while I was playing soccer, Chi Weng stepped on my shoe and I was awarded a penalty kick. I scored the best goal ever.

I had the most memorable day of my entire life.
